Our Physicians
A native Texan, Dr. Bertino is one of the founding members of the group. He graduated from Southern Methodist University and the Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He was one of the first graduates of the Otolaryngology residency program in San Antonio and began practice with Dr. Sonny Marlowe in 1974. Dr. Bertino is Board Certified in Otolaryngology. Dr. Bertino has served as President of the Bexar County Medical Society and has been active in residency training as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Bertino currently only sees patients in a clinical setting.
Stephen J. Talley, M.D., F.A.C.S.
A native Texan, Dr. Talley graduated from Texas Tech University and Baylor College of Medicine with high academic honors. He received his residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and is Board Certified in Otolaryngology. Dr. Talley is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Talley joined the practice in 1987. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Dr. Talley currently only sees patients in a clinical setting.
Gilbert M. Ruiz, R.P.H., M.D., F.A.C.S.
A native of San Antonio, Dr. Ruiz graduated from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He received his residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and is Board Certified in Otolaryngology. Dr. Ruiz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. Upon completion of his residency training, he began a private solo practice. He then joined the group in 1993. Dr. Ruiz is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology and Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He has been active as Clinical Faculty in the Christus Santa Rosa Family Practice Residency Program. Dr. Ruiz has served as President of the Mexican American Physicians Association. He is also Board Certified in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Ruiz is fluent in Spanish and sees patients at our Northwest and Brooks City Base locations. He sees patients for evaluation and diagnosis of sleep disorders as well as adults and children for general ENT issues.
Patrick N. Brown, M.D.
A native Texan, Dr. Brown graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He received his residency training in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and is Board Certified. Upon completion of residency, Dr. Brown joined the practice in 1996. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and has served as Clinical Faculty for the Christus Santa Rosa Family Residency. Dr. Brown is also Board Certified in Sleep Medicine. He is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Brown sees patients at our Northwest and Southeast locations. He sees patients for evaluation and diagnosis of sleep disorders as well as adults and children for general ENT issues. He also has a special interest in endocrine surgery.
Christopher York, M.D.
Raised on a farm in North Texas, Dr. York graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Spanish. While at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Dr. York earned the Osler Student Scholar Award in recognition of his commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. After graduating first in his medical school class, he completed his residency training in Otolaryngology at UT Southwestern in Dallas. Dr. York is fluent in Spanish. He sees adults and pediatrics for general ENT issues at our Stone Oak and Brooks City Base locations.
Devang P. Desai, M.D., F.A.C.S.
A native of Chicago, Dr. Desai graduated from Northwestern University near Chicago and the University of Illinois Chicago Medical School with honors. He received his residency training in Otolaryngology at the University of Illinois Medical Center and is Board Certified and is also Boarded in Otolaryngic Allergy. Dr. Desai received further training at the Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago with special focus in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Desai joined the Head and Neck Surgical Associates in Wichita Falls and then moved to the Ear, Nose & Throat Clinics of San Antonio in 2000. Dr. Desai is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is fluent in Spanish and sees patients in our Northeast and Stone Oak locations. Dr. Desai sees adults and children for general ENT issues.
Daniel J. Fleming, M.D.
A native of Michigan, Dr. Fleming is a summa cum laude graduate of Albion College and the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor. After serving as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force, he received his residency training in Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and is Board Certified. Upon completion of his residency training, Dr. Fleming joined the practice in 2002. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and has served as Clinical Faculty in the Christus Santa Rosa Family Practice Residency Program. Dr. Fleming sees patients at our Northwest offices. He sees adults and children for general ENT issues.
David Gleinser, M.D.
A native of San Antonio, Dr. Gleinser is a graduate of St. Mary’s University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He received his residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and is undergoing Board Certification in Otolaryngology. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Gleinser joined the practice. He sees adults and children for general ENT issues at our Northeast and Westover Hills locations.
Nathan W. Hales, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Head & Neck Surgical Oncologist
Born in Utah and raised in Texas, Dr. Hales did his undergraduate studies at Texas A & M University (and remains a very enthusiastic Aggie!). He subsequently completed medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston where he graduated with honors. He received his residency training in Otolaryngology and subsequent fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He is Board Certified in Otolaryngology and a fellow of The American College of Surgeons. Dr. Hales is active in residency training and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio as well as the Combined Armed Forces Otolaryngology program here in San Antonio. He serves on the task force for the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. Hales also directs the community Head & Neck Tumor Board to promote superior, coordinated and compassionate care for patients with cancer of the head and neck. He is fluent in Spanish and enjoys participating in service missions to areas such as Bolivia and Nicaragua. Dr. Hales sees patients for the diagnosis and management of head and neck cancer and has a special interest in endocrine (thyroid and parathyroid) surgery. He directs the Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) Program and was the first in San Antonio to offer these procedures. He also sees adults and children for general ear, nose, and throat issues. Dr. Hales sees patients at our Westover Hills and Northwest locations.
Mark W. Hatch M.D.
Dr. Hatch is a distinguished Otolaryngologist representing Texas ENT Specialists. With a background in General Surgery from Baylor University Medical Center and specialized training in Otolaryngology at the University of Michigan, Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery, Dr. Hatch brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his practice. Certified in Inspire implants for obstructive sleep apnea, Dr. Hatch is dedicated to improving patient lives through comprehensive care. A member of prestigious organizations like the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, Dr. Hatch is committed to providing the highest quality care to his patients.
